PORTS OFFERING UNIQUE CAPACITIES IN EUROPE
Transmission, storage, and maintenance: marine renewable energies connot develop without the right port infrastructures made available. Thanks to ports such as Le Havre and Cherbourg, Normandy can boast an offering of rare accomodations and port facilities.
Berthing facilities have been scaled to accomodate the largest vessels sailing at present, and have been equipped for the handling of heavy loads. They also offer storage facilities for large parts, such as wind turbine blades (75 m).
In addition, investments have been made to boost port capacities in view of future offshore wind farms and MRE-related industrial developments.
The Ports Authority for the ports of Cherbourg and Caen-Ouistreham, Ports Normands Associés
(PNA), has allocated 100 million euros for works
to be done over a period pf 4 years. In particular, the extension of quai des Flamands
(+320 m) completed in March 2015 and the extension of the open areas inside Cherbourg's artificial haven
(+39 hectares) by 2016.

Chosen to house the maintenance facilities for the future offshore wind farm of Courseulles-sur-mer, the Caen-Ouistreham outer harbourg
has benefited from a major 16 million euros operation in refurbishment and overhaul.

Le Havre's Port Authority, the Grand Port Maritime du Havre
, has scheduled to proceed to the underpinning of its infrastructures and dock beds to allow for the handling of heavy loads on the Joannès Couvert quay. It is where ADWEN's industrial platform will be installed. Works are estimated at 57,4 million euros.

Over 60 million euros in workds
will have been allocated by 2020 to modernise the port de Dieppe
. The Jehan Ango dock and outer harbour quays will be refurbished to house the production and maintenance activities for the wind farm off the coast of Dieppe-Le Tréport.
The port of Fécamp has been selected to consitute the maintenance centre for the wind farm off Fécamp's coast because of its proximity and the appropriate length of its quay. It will also be developed appropriately.
