The Regional Potential

NORMANDY IS BURSING WITH ENERGY

Normandy has natural assets that contribute to making it a strategic geography for the development of marine renewable energy generation and energy supply diversification in France.

With over 600 kilometres of coast, Normandy is unquestionably sea-oriented. Its regular westerly winds and shallow seabeds have made it one of the top European harnessing zones for offshore wind farms.

Between Cape The Hague and Alderney, one of the Channel Islands, Blanchar Race is considered to be one of the European marine currents with the highest velocity (6 metres per second). It is the n°1 potentially exploitable zone in the world.

In conjunction with high capacity port infrastructures, with a high capacity network for the transmission of electricity that is both accessible and developed, and with an auspicious local ecosystem, these resources naturally position Normandy as one of the top ranking France regions for MREs.
